The Network Engineer supports and maintains infrastructure operations, monitors infrastructure performance and resolution of technical problems. The Network Engineer leads high impact projects, prioritises and assigns tasks to ensure that team’s resources are used effectively and that infrastructure projects are implemented in accordance with plans and budgets.
He/She identifies and resolves highly complex or specialised issues that may require the establishment of new techniques and processes. He/She anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends improvements. He/She is required to be on standby with on-call availability with varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
He/She applies a critical and analytical approach to resolving technical problems. He/She works well with his/her team and can guide them to ensure infrastructure projects are well implemented.
The Role:
As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
- Responsible for managing network-related incidents and changes, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted network operations.
- Responsible for the commission, de-commissioning, and tech refresh of network devices
- Facilitate problem solving and collaboration among team members to ensure optimal network performance
- Proactively manage the smooth delivery of network operations in accordance with stipulated Service Level Agreements, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum customer satisfaction
- Provide timely firmware updates for network devices, keeping them up-to-date with the latest security patches and enhancements
- Ensure network infrastructure complies with rigorous security policies and industry best practices, safeguarding the confidentiality and integrity of data
- Prepare and maintain detailed assets inventory to ensure accurate tracking, availability, and timely updates of capacity reports
- Regularly update process and procedural documents, ensuring they reflect the most current and effective practices
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties as required or assigned, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the network operations
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Information Technology/Information Systems/Computer Science, Business IT or its equivalent
- Proven experience in administration and implementation
- Good knowledge of the following, but not limited to:
- Firewall technologies (high availability, virtual firewall concept)
- IP load balancer
- Distribution and core switches
- Router configuration (high availability) o LAN and WAN administration
