At Eni , we are looking for a Senior Accountant & Tax within Versalis Asia Pacific , based in Singapore . You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, periodic book closings, tax filings, reporting to authorities, preparation of financial statements and the handling of statutory and internal audits.

Versalis Asia Pacific serves as a regional headquarters and service centre primarily for Versalis’ production and trading activities of petrochemical products in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to managing the financial operations of Versalis Asia Pacific, which has an annual turnover of US$60 million, it also provides extended services to other Eni Group companies in the region, supporting upstream business activities.

Main responsibilities:

Accounting

  • Responsible for the full set of financial and cost accounting processes, including GL, AR, AP, asset accounting, cost accounting, tax accounting, forex, and preparation of necessary accounting reclassifications and adjustments, for both Versalis Singapore and other managed Versalis/Eni entities in the APAC region.
  • Manage interfaces with material management, sales ledgers and inventories.
  • Maintain relevant master data in SAP to ensure accuracy and currency.
  • Periodically review accounting data and transactions to ensure integrity and correctness.
  • Responsible for timely periodical closing and consolidation of financial statements, payments, cash flow, and relevant reporting to authorities and shareholders.
  • Produce various accounting reports as required by the company, head offices and external authorities.
  • Prepare accurate and timely information for management in compliance with Group financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all fiscal and legal matters related to accounting activities.
  • Participate in trade credit and banking relationships, and perform bank reconciliations accurately.
  • Prepare documentation and present it to government bodies as necessary.

Taxation and Reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with relevant tax regulations, and timely filing of applicable tax returns and payments, including but not limited to VAT, WHT, corporate income tax, transfer pricing and other tax matters, both domestic and cross-border.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the head office and other authorities, in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements, including customs, fair trade committees, local governments and financial authorities, via the required reporting platforms (online or offline).

Compliance and Audits

  • Ensure that Versalis Singapore and managed entities’ accounting and financial statements fully comply with relevant regulatory requirements and accounting standards (e.g. IFRS), and maintain effective internal control procedures, including SOX and anti-corruption compliance where applicable.
  • Review and update internal control procedures, and improve finance and accounting processes to reflect changes in regulatory requirements and business activities.
  • Act as the focal point for statutory, tax and other internal or external audits related to finance and accounting, providing justifications, supporting evidence and recommendations to senior management.

Skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Management, or other relevant subjects.
  • CPA qualification or equivalent experience with a proven track record.
  • At least eight years of overall experience, including a minimum of five years in a similar role, preferably with strong planning, control and compliance knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete a full set of annual financial statements for a company engaged in sales, marketing and production of multiple products, including import and export activities.
  • Willingness to lead and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP, with expertise and analytical skills in managing large volumes of data using Excel.
  • Fluent in business English.
  • Proven managerial experience with the ability to supervise and influence others to achieve results.
  • Proactive and cooperative, with a commitment to optimising processes and working effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that enhance performance.
  • Flexible and proactive.
  • Ability to work in multicultural and multitasking environments.
  • Skilled in coaching and motivating team members under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships internally and externally to achieve objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and work at international sites as required.
