Job Purpose
As an Underwriting Associate in the Commercial Distribution Division, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to support revenue growth and to achieve customer satisfaction. This includes servicing support to grow new customers, to retain existing customers and to drive transformation process in line with the Company’s objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Assisting Division Head to achieve gross underwriting premium and profit set by the Company.
- Evaluating, underwriting and quoting risks for commercial classes in line with Company’s underwriting guidelines and treaty programme.
- Placing facultative reinsurance and ensure contract certainty documentation is fulfilled.
- Preparing insurance summaries, renewal invite and actively working with agents and FA in pursuing renewable business to achieve high persistency targets.
- Performing additional support duties, such as presentation to clients, claims and underwriting analytics, insurance schematics, issuance of cover notes, certificates of insurance, instructions for issuance of policies and preparation of monthly business reports.
- Undertaking any other assignments as allocated by the Division Head, PMO and the CEO to contribute to the overall corporate objectives.
- Assisting Divisional Head in conducting sales and awareness campaigns to the relevant intermediaries, as appropriate.
- Co working with corporate finance in ensuring premiums are collected within the premium warranty framework.
- Engaging in operational duties, such as issuance of cover notes, certificates of insurance, instructions for issuance of policies and preparation of monthly business reports.
- Undertaking any other assignments as allocated by the Division Head, Strategy Transformation Office and the CEO to contribute to the overall corporate objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with insurance industry experience of minimally 2-5 years.
- Experience in market facing and distribution roles.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance and products, ideally with underwriting experience.
- Possess Certificate in General Insurance and Health Insurance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with people and communication skills, a problem solver with ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to change.
