Job Responsibilities:
- Operate oxy-acetylene torches or flame cutting equipment to cut, shape, and weld metal materials.
- Set up and adjust equipment and tools, ensuring all parts and materials are in place for safe operation.
- Inspect materials for defects before cutting or welding and ensure they meet the specifications and quality standards.
- Follow blueprints, technical drawings, or work orders to complete tasks according to specifications.
- Use roper safety procedures, including wearing protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, helmets, and fire-resistant clothing.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding and cutting equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Measure and mark materials to ensure proper cuts and alignments.
- Assist with the preparation of materials, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning.
- Record work progress, including quantities of materials cut or welded.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Requirement:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant certification or training in welding, flame cutting, or metalworking.
- Proven experience as a welder or flame cutter, ideally with experience in oxy-acetylene cutting, plasma cutting, or welding.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices for working with hazardous tools and materials.
Skills:
- Proficient in the use of oxy-acetylene torches, flame cutters, and other welding tools.
- Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of welding and cutting procedures.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and production targets.
