- Job Title: Air Conditioning Technician
Reports To: Director
Summary: Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs various air conditioning and refrigeration systems in residential, commercial, and/or industrial settings, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Installation:
Install new air conditioning systems (split units, window units, ducted systems, VRV/VRF, package units) according to manufacturer specifications and building codes.
Mount indoor/outdoor units, run refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, condensate drains, and ductwork (where applicable).
Perform system commissioning, start-up, and testing to ensure proper operation.
- Maintenance & Servicing:
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on AC systems to maximize efficiency and lifespan.
Clean condenser and evaporator coils, blower components, drain pans, and filters.
Check refrigerant levels (using gauges/manifolds), system pressures, and temperatures.
Inspect electrical connections, components (contactors, capacitors, relays), motors, and belts.
Lubricate moving parts as required.
Verify thermostat operation and calibrate if necessary.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Diagnose malfunctions in AC systems (electrical, mechanical, refrigerant-related).
Identify and replace defective parts (compressors, fans, motors, valves, circuit boards, thermostats, etc.).
Repair refrigerant leaks, evacuate systems, and recharge with correct type/amount of refrigerant.
- Troubleshoot complex control systems and wiring diagrams.
- Address issues like poor cooling, strange noises, water leaks, frozen coils, and electrical faults.
