ABOUT THE Global INVESTIGATIONS TEAM
As part of our expanding Global Investigations team, you will work at the forefront of today’s most complex business challenges. Our highly accomplished expert team includes intelligence experts, investigative and OSINT researchers, country and regulatory risk experts, forensic accountants, certified fraud examiners, digital forensic specialists, big data experts, and former regulators – all working in concert to provide the investigative, strategic intelligence, and regulatory compliance solutions that address our clients’ most critical business threats.
We are looking for an Associate to join our Southeast Asia Investigations practice. As part of the team, you will be engaged in undertaking investigations, capturing intelligence, analysing disaggregated information, compiling evidential material, and communicating findings to project leads and clients.
The Associate role is a multi-faceted role that incorporates the granular aspects of larger assignments, the execution of client deliverables of smaller assignments, as well as the ongoing development of your technical and commercial faculties.
Ideally you will have experience of working internationally, including emerging and frontier markets, and will bring an understanding of the nuances and cultural awareness required to operate, and lead, on the ground when necessary.
Responsibilities
Amongst other tasks, you will be expected to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of both the technical (methodology) and strategic (client objectives) elements of the assignment.
- Identify different sources of information – both from within the client and from open-sources – that would advance the current level of understanding.
- Conduct robust analysis of information gathered from a range of sources to generate relevant findings and identify next steps and/or further information requirements to progress the current level of understanding.
- Present the findings from the analysis in an appropriate, clear, and concise format suitable for both internal and client/adviser audiences.
- Demonstrate appropriate judgment when considering risks – both to the client and to Secretariat – arising from the assignment. This includes ensuring compliance with internal risk processes and policies throughout the assignment.
- Identify opportunities for self-development including your technical and commercial skills. This may include seminars, webinars, conferences, formal training courses, and other avenues of professional development.
Requirements/qualifications/experience
- Strong academic background to undergraduate level minimum.
- At least two years of experience within an intelligence and investigation practice consulting firm. That experience should include client engagements involving several of the following: political and regulatory intelligence, strategic advisory, investigative due diligence, country risk issues, crisis and threat scenarios, fraud, asset misappropriation, bribery and corruption, IP theft, financial misreporting, undisclosed relationships, and asset/individual tracing.
- Strong verbal communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem resolution abilities with a particular eye for detail.
- An awareness of, and the wherewithal to flag, the inherent risks of collating and analysing information from a diverse range of sources.
- The ability to work independently yet with an awareness of issues and risks that need to be highlighted to senior staff.
- The ability to manage and prioritise your time, potentially against a backdrop of competing deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- The desire to join in with, and/or lead, auxiliary tasks associated with a growing practice within a rapidly growing firm.
