We are working with a leading global agribusiness on their search for a Senior Chartering Officer to join their dynamic commercial team. The role involves end-to-end chartering support for the trading division, encompassing the sourcing of appropriate vessels, negotiating competitive freight rates, optimizing fleet utilization, and mitigating chartering-related risks. Key Responsibilities:
- Source and secure suitable vessels at competitive freight rates, supporting export routes and fleet optimization.
- Manage charter party negotiations, fixture execution, and post-fixture operations.
- Handle shipment-related claims such as demurrage and disputes to minimize financial impact.
- Collaborate closely with trading and shipping teams to maximize vessel utilization and reduce voyage costs.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, shipowners, brokers, and other stakeholders to support business growth.
- Provide support for domestic fleet deployment when required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business, or related fields
- 3-5 years of chartering or shipping operations experience, preferably in liquid bulk or chemical sectors
- Strong knowledge of charter party agreements, freight markets, and shipping logistics
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing demurrage and claims
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in shipping software and MS Office
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally
