CNC Machine Shop Manager (PM)
As a CNC Machine shop Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and managing the entire machining operations, from planning to execution in line with the safety & quality standards requirements, optimizing resource allocation, on time delivery, and continuous improvements in a cost-effective way that align with setting KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead a team of production staff (30 headcount) to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, conduct safety briefing and lesson learnt from overseas plant for the team and promote a culture of safety within the department
- Oversee machine setup and maintenance activities, ensuring that CNC machines are properly calibrated, maintained, and operated according to safety and quality standards
- Lead and supervise production teams, including hiring, counselling, and evaluating performance to ensure the team’s performance, productivity, and quality standards are met
- Providing technical expertise and assistance to the team, helping them interpret technical drawings, select appropriate cutting tools, and optimize machining processes for efficiency and precision
- Maintain accurate records of machining quality record, ensure that the Operating Instructions (OIs) are current, accurate and team are trained in the relevant job according to OIs
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to verify that the finished products meet drawing specifications and requirements
- Identify training needs for the CNC machinist team and arrange relevant training programs to maintain standards of competencies in enhancing their skills & knowledge
- Collaborate with Production Control Department to plan and schedule machining operations, considering production goals, deadlines, and resource availability
- Continuously monitor the CNC machining processes and identify opportunities for improvement in productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness
- Analyse and troubleshoot problems that may arise during machining operations, implement corrective actions to improve product quality and reduce defects
- Assist in the budgeting process for the CNC machining department, monitoring expenses and making cost-effective decisions
- Compute Monthly Master plan, W21 Monthly Report and other duties as assigned by the management
Job Requirements:
- Qualification in Mechanical/ relevant Manufacturing Engineering
- Minimum 15 years’ progressive experience in CNC machine‑shop environments.
- Demonstrated mastery of CNC programming, machine setup, calibration and operation—covering both programming and hands‑on machining.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good computer skills for data entry and documentation purposes
- In-depth knowledge of CNC machining processes, programming, and operation
- Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to enforce safety protocols
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address technical and operational challenges
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Proven experience as a CNC machinist, with additional experience in a supervisory capacity
- Strong understanding of quality control principles and practices
