The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will lead the design, development and integration of offshore telemetry, navigation, and communication system packages—preferably for CALM buoy or comparable offshore mooring and marine projects. The ideal candidate will possess robust experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering for offshore environments, a proven track record with telemetry and navigation systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, specify, and integrate electrical and instrumentation systems for offshore telemetry, instrumentation, navigation, and communication packages, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Develop E&I design and requirements for equipment packages found on SPM systems.
- Prepares/review project documentation, engineering specifications and reports in conformance to Client’s specifications, Class Society requirements, industry standards and in-house standards whilst also ensuring that project deliverables are delivered on time.
- Be involved in high level technical interface discussions with clients and sub-contractors to determine the root cause of problems and develop effective solutions to solve them. Develops alternative solutions and communicates associated benefits and risks.
- Provide guidance to and checks the work of drafters, designers.
- Be the E&I technical lead on smaller scaled SPM projects.
- Assists in the tender of SPM projects with the objective of ensuring that bid from the various participating vendors is technically compliant and commercially reasonable. Assists in preparation of technical proposal and project cost estimates.
- Travels occasionally to Client and Vendor premises for technical discussions, also to sub-contractor’s factory or fabrication yard to attend Factory Acceptance Tests and fabrication support respectively.
- Independently develops solutions to non-recurring problems by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating various precedents and data. Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative actions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bsc Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrument Engineering.
- 6-10 years relevant experience in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
- FPSO experience is preferred but not compulsory
- Professional/Industrial certification related to Electrical & Instrumentation will be an advantage.
- Good-to-have: Package / Interface engineer experience.
- Knowledge of offshore electrical and instrumentation engineering and package engineering.
- Knowledge of telemetry and navigation system integration.
- Excellent communication in English (written and spoken).
- Proficient in use of CAD related to Engineering functions.
