As a Global Supplier Manager (GSM) at Micron, you will have the unique opportunity to manage a large strategic supplier or suppliers, contributing to Micron's world-class memory and storage solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with team members across multiple categories to ensure high-quality supplier support when providing goods and services. Your expertise will be crucial in driving supplier strategies to optimize cost, supply, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Management
- Participate in commercial supplier qualification activities to ensure the commercial development of strategic suppliers
- Lead cross-category and significant company-to-company escalations; support category escalations for assigned suppliers as needed
- Serve as the center of knowledge for assigned supplier(s) and share knowledge with key stakeholders and members of the category teams to enable more effective planning, forecasting and execution
- Partner with the category team and stakeholders to build comprehensive view of supplier performance
- Communicate key supplier management updates and decisions to multiple levels in the organization, including Executive Leadership
Cost Management & Analysis
- Identify and evaluate category-specific savings/revenue levers
- Drive category savings/revenue and scorecard metric targets
- Provide market intelligence and category price trends to relevant internal stakeholders
- Utilize should-cost models for assigned categories that are benchmarked and relevant to the global marketplace
Negotiation
- Collaborate across categories to ensure unified negotiation plans
- Lead or participate in negotiations for contract extensions and renewals, renegotiation of prices, transfers, etc
- Lead sourcing events/RFQ process into bundled negotiation
- Incorporate savings targets and contract requirements into negotiations
- Develop a contract strategy for suppliers in assigned categories and create, negotiate, monitor and enforce contracted terms and conditions
Business Partnering
- Collaborate with Stakeholders to Deliver Strategic Solutions
- Develop and maintain expertise in the assigned supplier(s) through relationships with Category Director, Global Category Managers, and Category Supplier Managers
- Drive customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement processes
- A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in category management and strategic sourcing.
- Strong negotiating and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively manage relationships with various individuals involved.
- Advanced skills in material cost structure understanding and analysis
