Data Center Operations
Generator Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities
- Serve as technical/consultative resource for Emergency Generators and supporting equipment, Fire Detection and Alarm System and the Fire Protection System with an emphasis on practical/field application
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain generators, all associated fuel systems, Fire Detection and Alarm System and Fire Protection System
- Assist in authoring processes and procedures
- Analyze data, develop metrics, and identify trends related to generator reliability. Contribute to generator maintenance and repair strategy
- Assist with regulatory compliance and reporting related to air quality and emissions
- On-site lead for root cause analysis activities in area of expertise
- Provide training to critical facility engineers on generators and supporting equipment, Fire Detection and Alarm System and Fire Protection System
- Manage generator vendor relationships, scheduling, and work scope
- Supervise and validate generator vendor-performed activities (startup, commissioning, maintenance, etc.)
- Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local SME and EHS teams
- Other duties as required to support the operation of Meta data centers
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent Bachelor’s degree or trade certification in related field plus 3+ years relevant industry experience
- 6+ years of experience as a trade or manufacturer generator technician, or 6+ years of generator experience in critical operations
- Knowledge of applicable local regulations pertaining to Fuel Storage, Fire Detection and Alarm Systems and Fire Protection systems
- Knowledge of power generation and transfer systems
- Knowledge of diesel fuel system components, fuel storage and fuel quality management
- Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
- Experience in comprehending plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings
- Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment (pharma, clean room, medical, power production, etc.)
- Experience with PLC control systems
- Experience with the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of larger capacity Generators and Generator control systems
- Experience managing vendor contracts
