Position Objective and Summary
A proven people-leader who owns end-to-end yard production, fabrication, sales and administrative functions to deliver safe, efficient and profitable marine operations. The Head of Marine directs all waterfront activities, drives continuous improvement, secures new work, and safeguards compliance with Singapore regulations and international standards.
Main Tasks / Activities / Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and day-to-day direction for all yard, waterfront and afloat repair activities.
- Allocate resources and decide priorities to meet functional and commercial objectives while minimising downtime.
- Oversee steel fabrication, piping, machining and blasting/painting trades; assure quality, schedule and cost targets.
- Introduce best-practice workflows, automation and lean initiatives to raise productivity and safety.
- Build and execute sales plans for marine repairs, fabrication packages, load-testing and deck-machinery services.
- Develop client pipelines, prepare tenders/quotations, negotiate contracts and meet revenue targets.
- Nurture long-term partnerships with ship owners, class societies, MPA, yards and vendors to secure repeat business and strategic alliances.
- Act as primary customer interface on operational deliverables, cost efficiencies and service quality.
- Champion a zero-harm culture; monitor Yard Facilities Security Plan (ISPS) and all MOM/MPA requirements.
- Hold monthly safety walks, investigations and toolbox talks.
- Own annual budgets, forecasts and quarterly performance reviews; drive cost control and margin improvement.
- Identify synergy projects and collaborative partnerships to grow profitability.
- Lead, mentor and appraise multi-disciplinary teams (production, planners, supervisors, admin).
- Conduct regular department meetings, set KPIs and succession plans to maintain consistent service standards.

Job Requirements (Education, Certifications, Experience, Soft Skills)
- Diploma or Degree in Marine / Mechanical / Production Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10 years’ yard or ship-repair experience, with solid exposure to fabrication, marine cranes & deck machinery and load-testing / afloat repairs.
- Proven track record leading multi-trade production and securing sales/contracts .
- Strong budgeting and P&L ownership.
- Deep understanding of class, flag and Singapore regulatory requirements for vessel management and yard security.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; ERP / CMMS familiarity an advantage.
- Decisive, outcome-driven, organised and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and cross-functional team-building skills.
- Strong safety mindset and continuous-improvement orientation.
- Able to work independently while fostering collaboration across functions.
- Fluent in English; additional Asian language(s) an advantage for client interface.
