Job Summary
The Kitchen Helper supports the chefs and kitchen staff in daily operations by ensuring cleanliness, assisting with basic food preparation, and maintaining an organized work environment. This role is essential for smooth kitchen operations, food safety, and overall service efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation (washing, peeling, chopping ingredients).
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Wash dishes, pots, and pans, ensuring they are sanitized and properly stored.
- Dispose of kitchen waste and keep storage areas neat and organized.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing food supplies and deliveries.
- Support the chefs during busy service periods by preparing ingredients and bringing items as needed.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Halal requirements (if applicable).
- Perform other duties assigned by the Chef or Supervisor.
Requirements & Skills
- No formal experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good team player with a positive attitude.
- Physically fit to stand for long hours and handle kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety practices preferred.
Qualifications
- Primary/Secondary education.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred but not mandatory).
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays required.
- Standing for extended periods.
