Introduction
Marie’s Lapis Café is a family restaurant with a siting capacity of 22 customer situated at 537 Bedok North Street 3, #01-575. The menu offerings are Nyonya and Western Cuisine. Desserts are waffles, gelato and Nyonya Kueh. The beverages served are speciality coffee, tea, and soda. The premise is fully air-conditioned. This café is applying for Halal certification. We are looking to hire a hard-working, customer-oriented, Front of House Cafe Supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the end-to-end service from kitchen to table with excellent customer service experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
As an assistant cook you are also expected to serve customers, clear/clean tables, pay attention to customers’ needs and will be responsible for Google review ratings. Your extended role in the kitchen will include helping the chef to dress dishes, food preparation and clean the kitchen.
1. Beverages – You are expected to serve coffee and tea. You will be taught to brew and serve speciality coffee.
2. Work Ethics – You are expected to be on time to start work and except job request that is reasonable and when necessary, like washing dishes, check stock, pack the storeroom, clean tables, chairs, clean items on display or any work needed for the efficient operation of the café. You must follow all PDPA guidelines and handle monetary transactions with integrity. You must be ready to work late when the situation at the café is busy.
3. Stock management – You will be trained to be accountable for the stock keeping and guided on when and how to buy. You must be well-organized and adept at using productivity equipment such as MS excel, Words, PowerPoint or its equivalent but not limited to website, POS and phone camera...etc.
To be a successful Assistant Cook you must:
a. Accountable for all stocks, cash sales, product quality and wastage.
b. Take orders accurately, be accountable for mistakes made and install process to make sure that the same mistake does not happen.
c. Accept the goal discussed and take action to achieve the goals set out.
d. Maintain outstanding store condition, taking care of equipment, and arrange the displays.
e. You must enjoy working with people in a helpful, courteous manner and have a neat personal appearance.
f. You must be able to deal accurately with money, be highly motivated, with good problem-solving skills and willing to work as part of a team like helping colleagues even when it is late.
g. Follow all companies’ policies and procedures.
Communication skills – It is important to be a strong, detailed communicator to interact with customers and for service to run smoothly. The main language is English, any other languages like Mandarin, Malay will be a plus.
Attention to detail – It is important to perform well under pressure and multitask while paying close attention to details especially in delivering high class customer service with the focus on customer satisfaction, consistency, and credibility.
Flexibility – As an assistant cook you may be required to perform different tasks depending on the day. If the café is terribly busy, for example, you may have to work extra hours and help in areas that may be beyond your job scope.
Education and Essential skill set for a successful candidate.
A diploma in from a recognise collage for example Republic, Temasek, Nanyang polytechnic, we welcome fresh graduates who is willing to learn. However, preferences will be given to candidates who have worked part time at a café before. We look forward to your successful application and onboarding.
