Position Summary:
OceanX Education is seeking a dynamic and strategically minded Manager of Event Programming and Curation to lead the development and execution of high-impact content and community engagement across our public programming initiatives. This role will shape the intellectual and thematic backbone of our global convenings, onboard experiences, and signature events—ranging from summits and supper club dinners to fireside chats and curated gatherings.
The ideal candidate will blend strong editorial vision with stakeholder fluency, curating meaningful dialogue and convenings that reflect OceanX’s interdisciplinary mission in ocean science, education, policy, and philanthropy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Event Content Curation & Programming
- Design and curate compelling event themes, session formats, and run-of-show narratives for diverse formats including summits, fireside chats, shipboard convenings, and supper clubs.
- Lead the end-to-end speaker curation process: identify and recruit thought leaders, prepare briefing materials, and manage session flow and integration.
- Work closely with internal subject matter experts and creative teams to ensure alignment of messaging and mission throughout all content touchpoints.
Attendee & Community Curation
- Strategically identify and invite participants for curated events—ensuring cross-sector representation from science, government, education, philanthropy, and media.
- Cultivate and maintain a growing database of key stakeholders and community members to activate across programming.
- Foster community-building and post-event relationship continuity in collaboration with the Partnerships team.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Partnerships team to integrate strategic partner priorities into event agendas and attendee lists.
- Serve as a content liaison to external stakeholders and institutional partners throughout the event lifecycle.
- Represent the Public Programming pillar in cross-departmental planning meetings to ensure a coordinated approach to content and outreach.
Execution & Team Coordination
- Coordinate closely with the Event Operations Manager to ensure seamless delivery of curated content, speaker logistics, and event flow.
- Supervise external contractors and vendors for backend support, including speaker travel, AV setup, registration, and hospitality.
- Attend and oversee live events, ensuring speakers are prepped, sessions flow smoothly, and real-time adjustments are made as needed.
- Track post-event metrics, feedback, and outcomes to continually refine future programming.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Professional Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience, with a proven track record in creating content to curate or programs for the public
- Experience in event content curation, program development, or strategic communications—preferably in a nonprofit, education, cultural, or mission-driven organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing thoughtful, interdisciplinary programming for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills; able to work with high-level speakers, partners, and internal teams with confidence and discretion.
- Excellent writing, framing, and storytelling capabilities across formats.
- Comfort managing complex stakeholder relationships across regions and disciplines.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for key events, including programming onboard the OceanXplorer.

Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset), and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer paid medical plan and CPF.
