[What the role is]The School Counsellor (Manager / Senior Manager) who coordinates the counselling service and manages the Student Care Centre, leads a team of counsellors, works with staff, students, parents, external professionals and community agencies, to provide quality school counselling support for students’ mental health and social-emotional development.

- Provide individual and group counselling to the student population, as well as crisis intervention and management of affected students
- Document case notes and system records, and advise school management on counselling matters
- Conduct case management with stakeholders (staff, parents and external agencies) to extend support for high-risk students
- Lead a team of full time and part time school counsellors, and supervise the team, for needs analysis, early identification and referral of students with challenges
- Conduct staff training on mental health issues and intervention skills
- Plan training programmes and campaigns to raise awareness and understanding of mental health amongst students
- Manage the daily operations at the Student Care Centre (Counselling Facility), including assignment of cases to the counselling team
- Perform administrative functions of the Counselling Service, which include budget and procurement, case reporting, writing policy papers, as well as managing and updating guidelines and procedures.
- Network with relevant external professionals and community agencies, and represent the institution at cross-institution meetings
- Ad hoc tasks as assigned by Director of Office of Student Support
[What we are looking for]
- Relevant academic qualifications, with at least 8 to 10 years of experience, working directly in care and support services, preferably in the tertiary education sector
- Preferably a registered counsellor with Singapore Association for Counselling or equivalent
- Resourceful and be able to work independently
- Strong administrative and communication skills (spoken and written)
- Good team player with strong interpersonal skills
- IT savvy and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
