Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) distinguishes itself through research excellence directed towards outcomes of industry relevance, with focus on systems-level research for tropical megacities. The Institute integrates research across NTU in the context of the energy challenge and then helps translate outcomes into industry and practice.
SCARCE (Singapore CEA Alliance for Research in Circular Economy) is a joint collaboration between NTU (Singapore) and CEA (France) focusing on recycling of electronic waste (Lithium-ion batteries, silicon solar panels and printed circuit boards).
We are looking to hire a highly motivated candidate as a Research Associate to work on recycling of silicon solar panels under the SCARCE project. The role will focus on extraction and recovery of metals and silicon through mechanical and chemical routes.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up rigorous protocols and characterize composition of silicon solar panels and their components
Develop and execute experiments aimed at the extraction and recovery of materials embedded within silicon solar panels
Curating and managing experimental data, and assist in preparation of reports, presentations, technological disclosures and manuscripts
Be in charge of laboratory equipment and maintenance
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree in chemistry/engineering/material science or related field
At least 1-2 of relevant experience in laboratory research
Familiarity with material characterization techniques would be advantageous
Good written and oral communication skills
Willingness to learn, with adaptability and flexibility to take on required/necessary tasks beyond the job description
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work cohesively in a team whilst sharing resources
Excellent organizational skills including attention to details
