We are looking for a Research Fellow (Device Fabrication & Characterization) to advance research in semiconductor device technologies, including LEDs, photodetectors, solar cells, transistors, and electrically driven single-photon diodes (SPDs). The role will focus on device fabrication, nanofabrication techniques, optical cavity design, and advanced electrical/optical characterization. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the LUMINOUS! Centre of Excellence for Semiconductor Lighting and Displays, contributing to NTU’s mission of pioneering world-class research in energy-efficient, sustainable, and next-generation electronics and optoelectronics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and fabricate semiconductor devices including LEDs, photodetectors, solar cells, transistors, and single-photon diodes (SPDs) using cleanroom-based nanofabrication techniques (thin-film deposition, etching, etc.).
- Develop and integrate optical cavities for advanced optoelectronic devices.
- Conduct electrical, optical, and structural characterization of devices.
- Develop new fabrication methodologies for advanced materials integration.
- Collaborate with team members, graduate students, and external partners on joint research projects.
- Prepare research reports, high-impact journal publications, and conference presentations.
- Contribute to grant applications, project management, and laboratory safety.
- Mentor junior researchers and provide technical support on device-related experiments.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on expertise in semiconductor device fabrication, including LEDs, photodetectors, solar cells, transistors, and electrically driven single-photon diodes (SPDs).
- Proficiency in cleanroom-based nanofabrication processes (e.g., thin-film deposition, etching, doping).
- Experience in optical cavity design and integration for optoelectronic and quantum devices.
- Skilled in electrical and optical characterization techniques (e.g., probe stations, photoluminescence, electroluminescence, spectroscopy).
- Strong knowledge of device physics for semiconductor lighting, displays, and quantum optoelectronics.
- Demonstrated ability to publish in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
