[What the role is]The Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Group in NEA is the national authority for radiation protection in Singapore and serves to protect the public, radiation workers and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. Its Regulation Division administers and enforces the Radiation Protection Act and its subsidiary Regulations through a system of licensing, inspection, and enforcement. It also ensures that Singapore fulfils her obligations to relevant international conventions and agreements.

The job scope will include but not limited to the following:
Enforce the Radiation Protection Act and its Regulations
Inspect medical and industrial premises that store/use irradiating apparatus/radioactive materials
Prepare inspection reports and assessments based on information gathered from inspections
Respond to radiological incidents when necessary
Assist in assessing health and environmental impacts of radiation
Support the processing and issuance of radiation licences in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act and its Regulations
Perform other duties as required within the purview of the Regulation Division

Polytechnic Diploma in Science or Engineering-related discipline
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong self-motivation and resourcefulness
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
Well-organised with the ability to multi-task
Willingness to perform occasional night inspections
