Key Responsibilities:
- Independently handle mechanical design tasks (2D & 3D) and lead the section’s work for assigned projects.
- Support the Section Project Lead in daily project operations and coordination.
- Ensure all assigned mechanical tasks meet quality standards and project timelines.
- Provide guidance on design methodology and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, new regulations, and technical updates.
- Maintain and report daily project metrics such as man-hours and schedule progress.
- Contribute to team collaboration and ensure alignment with overall project progress.
- Offer feedback and suggestions to improve design practices and standardization.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, assistant engineers, and draftsmen in mechanical-related tasks.
- Analyze and resolve mechanical design issues encountered in the project.
- Track and report on key design data such as object count and component status.
- Participate in project and section meetings, providing progress updates and technical input.
- Prepare and review marine machinery and piping calculations, specifications, and vendor documents.
- Develop and review 2D arrangement drawings, schematics, and 3D models for marine systems.
- Provide design support for production and site-related activities.
- Liaise and coordinate with shipyards, consultants, and vendors to ensure technical alignment.
- Report to the Mechanical Project Section Lead and Mechanical Technical Lead.
- Handle various project scopes including newbuilds, repairs, upgrades, and conversions.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical/piping design for marine or offshore newbuilds.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior or lead engineering role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and AVEVA software.
- Strong understanding of classification rules and statutory requirements.
- Solid technical knowledge in machinery, piping, and HVAC design.
- Effective communication and analytical skills.
