Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Sourcing Specialist to manage both direct and indirect procurement functions in our organization. This role is crucial to supporting our production and operational efficiency by identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating optimal terms, and ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing aligned with company strategy. The candidate will work across departments to consolidate purchasing needs and contribute to cost-down activities, supplier development, and long-term sourcing plans.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct Procurement (Production-Related):
- Source and evaluate suppliers for machine tool components (e.g., castings, machined parts, electrical components, sheet metal).
- Analyse quotations and compare cost structures, delivery terms, and quality performance.
- Work with engineering, production, and quality teams to qualify new suppliers and alternative parts.
- Ensure suppliers meet required lead time, quality standards, and technical specifications.
- Participate in global sourcing projects (e.g., China, India) for cost reduction and risk diversification.
- Manage supplier performance through KPIs (on-time delivery, defect rate, cost competitiveness).
2. Indirect Procurement:
- Handle sourcing for non-production items including MRO supplies, tools, IT equipment, facility services, and general office needs.
- Conduct spend analysis and implement supplier consolidation where possible.
- Evaluate service providers and contractors for outsourced functions (e.g., maintenance, logistics).
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) for indirect categories.
3. Cost Management & Reporting:
- Support cost-down KPI targets by identifying value engineering and re-sourcing opportunities.
- Prepare sourcing reports, cost analysis, and market trend updates to management.
- Track savings performance and prepare documentation for internal reporting and audit compliance.
4. Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develop strategic supplier partnerships and long-term sourcing strategies.
- Conduct supplier audits and corrective action follow-ups in coordination with QA team.
- Drive supplier improvement initiatives (cost, quality, delivery, innovation).
5. Compliance and Systems:
- Ensure procurement activities align with corporate policies, ethical standards, and ISO procedures.
- Maintain accurate supplier master data and sourcing history in ERP (e.g., D365).
- Contribute to procurement process improvement and digitalization efforts.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the machine tool industry.
- Hands-on experience in both direct and indirect procurement.
- Strong knowledge in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost analysis.
- Familiar with technical drawings and engineering specifications is a plus.
- ERP system experience (preferably Microsoft D365 or SAP).

- Working Relationships:
- Internal: Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Finance, IT, Admin, and Safety teams.
- External: Interface with local and overseas suppliers, logistics providers, and contractors.
- Desirable Experience:
- Exposure to sourcing from China, India, Southeast Asia or other low-cost countries.
- Experience in procurement transformation or centralization projects.
- Prior involvement in supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
- Understanding of international trade terms (Incoterms), customs processes, and import documentation.
