The Sports Medicine Assistant will work as part of the Athletics office with responsibility for the healthcare needs for high school student athletes.
This is a 50% part-time position (0.5 FTE).
Responsibilities :
- Provide medical coverage for sports training and competitions.
- Attend to student athletes who are injured or ill during sports training and competitions and provide appropriate medical care.
- Emergency assessment, care and referral with subsequent follow up.
- Document emergency care in progress note and prepare accident report when indicated.
- Help manage the daily operations of the athletic training facilities.
- Liaise effectively with the athletics department and health office.
- Support the athletic trainer in implementing injury rehabilitation/prevention programs.
- Must be willing to ensure safeguarding training is completed effectively.
- Maintain all records and correspondence in an organized and accessible manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all student health records.
- Enforce and ensure compliance with school regulations pertaining to safety, security, and proper usage of school property.
- Ensure compliance with all school policies and procedures as related to the job responsibilities of this position.
- Relate courteously and effectively with students, parents, school personnel, government personnel, and community members as necessary.
- To be flexible with work hours and be willing to work across all sports facilities.
- Keep up to date with your current registration, arrange or attend professional development ensuring you are knowledgeable of current research related to your areas of practice.

Work Schedule: 6am-10am, Mondays - Fridays (When necessary on Weekends or in the event of responding to emergencies)
Qualifications Required:
- Candidate must be/have either:Enrolled nurse (by Singapore Nursing Board);
EMT certification (Singapore certificate or Singapore MOH relevant recognised EMT equivalent only), or;
A recognized degree or diploma in physical therapy/athletic training/sports medicine.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) course
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Automated External Defibrillator (CPR & AED) course
- Standard First Aid (SFA) course
- Preferred World Rugby ICIR Medical Level 2 course
- Previous experiences of covering sport events are desirable.
- Ability to make independent medical judgments based on assessments and current standards of practice, identify needs and prioritise work appropriately to manage the delivery of the service.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
- Positive work attitude and initiative. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends where the need arises and is requested by the athletic trainer.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
