Job Description
The Macro Research (Desk Analyst) team is looking to hire a Macro Strategist based in Singapore as part of the wider team across the Singapore and Hong Kong offices. Being a dual-hat role across Mizuho Securities and Mizuho Bank, this role provides an opportunity to engage a wide range of corporate and institutional clients with interests across the asset markets.
The primary remit of the role is to publish timely, topflight macro analysis and policy insights distilled into FX and rates views and clearly communicate these views for clients – both internal and external. The team works closely with the various Sales and Front office functions as well as the various Trading Desks. Given Mizuho’s presence across the region, client engagement will involve travel.
You will:
Assume country coverage for fundamental macro-economic, policy, FX and interest rate analyses for Asia ex-Japan economies.
Publish high-quality, timely research on macroeconomic, interest rate and FX markets and clearly communicate such insights/ideas to customers (internal and external).
Help to expand the breadth and depth of the research produced Support in data/research management and administrative duties as required.
Responsibilities
Publications: Produce timely and high-quality research publications on macroeconomics and market analysis. Take the lead on Weekly deliverables and new Video Initiative
Coverage: Proactively drive target to increase the geographical/research scope (breadth) of macroeconomic and market research as well as depth of research produced.
Presentations: Articulate research-backed market/economic analysis, views and ideas to clients (internal and external).
Advisory: Contribute to providing economic and market (focus on FX and IR markets) outlook and strategy; as and when required.
Data Management: Maintain a database of economic/asset market indicators as well as create indicators/models. Manage the overall data sets for the team.
Research Support: Provide economic/market information and prepare material for management purposes as well as wider regional support.
Assume any other tasks as required for furthering research and wider business objectives
Role Prerequisites
At least 3-7 years experience in macroeconomic analysis, distilled into policy views and/or FX and interest rate implications
Strong numerical capabilities with an inherent aptitude for data analysis
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Post-graduate degree in economics or finance
CMFAS Modules 6A and 5
Proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg
