As a Commercial Analyst, you will be reporting to the Senior Director, Bid Management, Finance. Your primary role is to facilitate the governance process through conducting commercial/financial reviews; developing cost and pricing models; risk assessments; providing independent financial feedback to support approvers; decision making and meaningful analysis of pursuit trends/win/loss to facilitate business strategies.
What will you do?
Bid Review and Documentation
- Facilitate and conduct finance bid review meetings, document action items and follow up with the proposal team.
- Review bid financials, pricing assumptions and provide financial/risk assessments to approvers.
- Prepare bid review reports and financial summaries (including P&L and cash-flow) for proposal and management teams.
- Support bid teams to initiate credit checks on partners, subcontractors and clients, and ensure compliance with corporate finance guidelines.
- Success Measure: You will review at least 40 deals each year (deal sizes between S$1M–S$50M).
Risk Assessment and Compliance
- Review tenders with focus on sales governance, ensuring all financial/commercial standards are met.
- Assess the risk level of deals and provide inputs to help approvers make informed decisions.
- Escalate bids with submission or delivery risks when necessary.
- Ensure bid commercials are robust, complete, and margin-driven.
Commercial Analysis and Support
- Develop cost/pricing models for customer submission and governance finance reviews.
- Interpret commercials to identify pricing/investment strategies and prepare what-if analysis to guide final bid decisions.
- Deliver cost/pricing models, pricing assumptions, and convert costings into client-ready pricing tables.
- Ensure proposed pricing aligns with bid strategy and corporate margin targets, securing internal approvals where required.
- Respond to customer commercial clarifications.
- Success Measure: You will act as commercial analyst for 2–3 large deals each year (deal sizes between S$5M–S$50M).
Team Collaboration and Development
- Provide coaching to bid teams on commercial and financial aspects of bid development.
- Partner closely with sales, solution architects, and business leaders to align on commercials.
- Participate in department/division/group/corporate initiatives to build best practices in the Bid Management Centre of Excellence.
- Success Measure: You will conduct at least one internal coaching session per year for junior analysts and help senior leaders make informed business decisions on multiple deals.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in Finance, Commercial Analysis, or Bid Management.
- Strong expertise in Financial Modeling (P&L) and familiar with the financial domain.
- Highly familiar with Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical ability and eye for detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage with different stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently under stringent timelines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to be agile, meticulous, outspoken, and resourceful.
- Strong business/commercial acumen and analytical skills in risk management.
- Good to have: experience in IT sector or MNC environments
