Key Responsibilities:
Project & Technical Leadership
- Lead and supervise the piping design, layout and support engineering team, ensuring alignment with project specifications and offshore engineering best practices.
- Manage design changes effectively during project execution and provide technically sound solutions.
- Coordinate and perform inter-discipline QA/QC checks, compliance reviews, and interface resolution.
- Act as the 3D Model Review Punchlist Coordinator, managing model review sessions and ensuring closure of all punch points.
- Expertise in pressure vessels and heat exchangers requirements and standards.
Design & Engineering Execution
- Responsible for the production of deliverables such as design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, CTR input, study reports, among others.
- Develop and review piping layouts, mechanical equipment arrangements, and support designs using Aveva E3D, MDS and other engineering tools.
- Perform clash detection, model checking, and access/safety reviews using Autodesk Navisworks Simulate or similar tools.
- Collaborate with pipe stress engineers, as necessary, to implement support modifications as per stress analysis outcomes.
- Evaluate and resolve multidisciplinary design issues, including: HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems, Technical safety and ASL structures
- Material handling access
- Maintenance, operational clearances, and escape route planning
Deliverables & Compliance
- Responsible for the production and quality of all discipline deliverables:
- Design calculations, specifications, drawings, procedures, analysis reports, and CTR inputs
- Ensure designs are in compliance with the client-specifics and relevant experience in Brazilian projects and proficiency in Brazilian standards and codes would be an advantage.
- Experience in preservation, tests, commissioning, and pre- operation of static and rotating mechanical equipment’s for offshore/ marine units.
Qualifications Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in offshore/marine engineering and design, including FPSO or fixed platform projects. Candidates with relevant experience as client representative in large FPSO projects would be preferred.
- Strong background in:
- Offshore piping layout and material handling design
- Pipe support and stress coordination
- Mechanical/piping integration with HVAC and safety systems
- Hands-on experience in using relevant software tools such as Aveva E3D, MDS, PDMS, Smart Plant 3D, Autodesk Navisworks Simulate, and Power BI
- Familiarity with offshore/FPSO piping materials, pipe stress, layout and pipe support engineering/design, and safety requirements as well as with international offshore design codes (ASME, DNV, API, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance and to coordinate well with the piping materials, stress and layout teams, as well as other disciplines
- Experience in conducting formal 3D model reviews and optimization workshops
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong understanding of constructability, maintainability, and operational design considerations.
