Our long-standing experience in base and precious metals positions us well to provide price risk management solutions across the precious metals spectrum, including gold, silver, platinum and palladium and across the base metals spectrum, including aluminium, copper, lead, nickel, tin, zinc and cobalt.
Financial institutions need access to liquidity in precious metal spot and forward markets, and may require physical bullion and clearing services. Consumers, producers and traders in base and precious metals need to manage commodity-specific pricing and inventory exposures due to volatile resource markets and fluctuating exchange rates. We offer our clients a range of financing, trading and risk management solutions.
Job Purpose:
Execute the Bank's precious and base metals growth strategies, with a focus on the Chinese market and precious metals.
Maximize revenue through sales and origination efforts across our flow trading, physical and metals financing businesses, within the Bank's risk and regulatory framework.
Conduct role within remit of MAS Representative Licensing Framework
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage client relationships across Greater China to deliver against revenue budgets and strategic priorities:
Trade executions:
- Conduct pre-deal check for good-to-trade status
- Provide price quotes to clients over bank approved channels
- Hedge and deal capture into systems in a timely and accurate manner
- Monitor client currency & metal positions, settlements, and credit limit utilisations
- Support physical precious metals trading and inventory management in Asia
- End-of-day reporting and checking
- Comply with all the regulatory rules, policies and procedures
Metals Sales & Marketing:
- Execute and support the desk in precious and base metals products
- Market research and identify opportunities
- Promote efficient execution via the bank's e-trading platforms
- Provide client portfolio & market analysis for risk management and business strategy planning
- Prepare management reports
- Deliver against revenue budget, returns hurdles and strategic priorities
- Work collaboratively with global sales and trading colleagues, as well as support functions (including credit and market risk, operations, trade support, compliance, and legal teams)
Customer Relations:
- Identify client needs and develop strong relationships with them
- Provide administrative support to improve client experiences
- Manage customer due diligence and Know-Your-Customer requirements
- Monitor client activities and report any financial crimes and suspicious transactions
Prepare and analyze customer credit applications
Required Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Values:
A degree is preferred
Experience in metals markets, ideally within a regulated entity
Understanding of the MAS, PRA/FCA rules & regulations or equivalent is an added advantage
Proficiency in MS Excel / PowerPoint / Word, risk management systems
Motivated, meticulous and able to multi-task under pressure
Strong interpersonal skills
Mandarin and English language skills are essential as this is a client facing role. Fluency in Japanese language is an added advantage so as to interact with the diverse client groups
