Job Summary:
The Accounts Assistant will provide essential support to the finance department by performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks. This role involves assisting with daily financial operations, maintaining accurate records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and possesses a foundational understanding of accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and processing of invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and filing systems.
- Support accounts payable functions, including verifying invoices, processing payments, and managing vendor inquiries.
- Support accounts receivable functions, including issuing invoices, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
- Prepare basic financial reports, summaries, and analyses as required.
- Handle petty cash management and reconciliation.
- Assist with payroll processing and related documentation.
- Liaise with internal departments and external vendors/clients regarding financial matters.
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
- Perform general administrative duties for the finance department, such as data entry, scanning, and photocopying.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1 years of experience in an accounting or finance support role.
- Foundational understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with a Xero, ERP
