- Effectively delegate and manage resources to achieve optimal productivity.
- Interpret technical specifications, prepare job lists and work schedules, and plan material take-offs and manpower allocation for yard personnel and contractors. Proactively alert the Commercial and Production Managers of potential technical or manpower issues in upcoming repairs or projects.
- Review and approve material take-offs and coordinate with the Purchasing Department to ensure timely procurement and delivery.
- Forecast manpower requirements and material arrivals, including equipment and facility needs.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Commercial, Subcontracting teams, and other trades to align procedures and schedules for job completion.
- Represent the department in daily production, operations, and management meetings, and participate in client meetings to resolve engineering and technical queries.
- Promote safety, discipline, and employee welfare; identify training needs and ensure staff development.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, company, quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards and procedures.
- Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives in health and safety, quality, environmental responsibility, and productivity.
- Liaise and coordinate effectively with regulatory bodies, clients, consultants, contractors, and internal departments to meet expectations while maintaining commercial control.
- Ensure project milestones and commercial objectives are met through strategic planning, logistics management, and execution.
- Optimize work processes and equipment utilization while managing and monitoring departmental budgets.
- Minimize material wastage and ensure all surplus materials are properly accounted for and returned to storage upon project completion.
- Prepare and review departmental documentation such as Risk Assessments (RA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), audit reports, and observation records (ORs).
- Enforce strict adherence to the Permit-to-Work system by all staff.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of work reports by ship in-charges.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
- Instill a culture of good housekeeping and safety practices among all staff, ensuring compliance with safe work procedures onboard vessels and within workshops.
