Purpose & Accountability
With offices in Singapore and London, the Tokio Marine Kiln aviation team underwrites a global portfolio of all classes of aviation business. In the office in Singapore, our focus lies on general aviation and aerospace business domiciled in Asia and Australasia. In our team, a role has recently opened up for a bright, ambitious and motivated individual to join us as an Aviation Assistant Underwriter.
Your role will be to assist the Aviation Underwriters to carry out all tasks relating to the underwriting of the division in order to provide client-oriented products and solutions, and maximize profitability to the division. You will play a key role in servicing the business and actively manage relationships with internal functions such as finance and accounting, and external stakeholders such as producers, brokers and clients. This is a unique opportunity with broad development potential for the right candidate.
Principal Accountabilities
After an initial induction period, your typical activities could look like this:
- Provide pre/post-underwriting and rating support to Underwriters, this includes but is not limited to:
- Managing the receipt and tracking of all submissions.
- Liaise with brokers and pro-actively request to see upcoming submissions
- Be fluent with TMK’s pricing tools to provide technical premium / rates for underwriter analysis.
- Assist underwriters in the preparation of renewal submissions
- Having a clear understanding of our risk appetite, and being able to independently triage incoming risk submissions
- Day to day servicing of our drone platform and acting as liaison between our platform partners and the developer
- independently assess new and renewal lineslip declarations, as well as taking day to day ownership of said lineslips
- Analysis of data and/or preparing reports for own & underwriters’ purpose, and acting on finds where required
- Establish and develop business relationships with our intermediaries, agents and business partners
- Support all other functional activities as required, including project related work
Technical Capabilities
- Preferably a minimum of 3 years of Specialty (re-)insurance experience. Rudimentary understanding of aviation (re-)insurance would be an advantage
- Must be fully aware of compliance and regulatory issues
- Having successfully passed the SCI ComGI and BCP exams would be an advantage
- Meticulous, organised, self-starting, energetic and able to respond well to the dynamic environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of other regional languages would be an advantage
Additional Information
The ideal candidate must be a team player that is willing to provide support to other members of staff, and taking ownership of customer issues when required to. Occasional regional travel might be required. A passion for the aviation industry would be an advantage.
