Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities related to engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and maintenance of process plant projects. This role involves strategic planning, market research, client engagement, proposal coordination, and contract negotiations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Research & Strategy
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential clients, industry trends, and competitors.
- Develop and implement business development strategies tailored to the process plant industry.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming projects (tenders, RFQs, etc.).
2. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Identify and establish contact with key decision-makers in target companies (owners, EPCs, consultants).
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, and industry stakeholders.
- Conduct client visits, presentations, and technical discussions to promote company services.
3. Tendering & Proposal Management
- Review tender documents and evaluate the scope of work.
- Coordinate with engineering, costing, procurement, and legal teams to prepare and submit proposals.
- Ensure timely submission of bids and proposals.
4. Contract Negotiation
- Support negotiation of commercial and technical terms of contracts.
- Collaborate with legal and finance departments to finalize agreements.
- Ensure contracts are aligned with company policy and profitability goals.
5. Collaboration with Internal Teams
- Work with the operations, engineering, and project teams to understand technical offerings.
- Communicate client expectations and project requirements internally.
6. Sales & Revenue Targets
- Set and achieve monthly, quarterly, and yearly business development targets.
- Track project conversion rates and generate reports for management.
7. Post-Award Support
- Ensure smooth project handover from business development to execution teams.
- Maintain client contact during project execution for potential variation orders or future business.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical or equivalent).
- 5–10 years of experience in business development in the process plant industry.
- Strong knowledge of EPC project lifecycle and procurement practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with contract types (e.g., lump sum, unit rate, turnkey).
