Job Description:
The person hired for the position of Demand Planner will be responsible for creating the demand plan that is critical for planning material flow throughout the supply chain. The focus of the Demand Planner is creating an unbiased demand plan with the highest accuracy possible.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Gathering and applying market intelligence to the demand plan. Market intelligence may come from sales, marketing, key accounts, and other sources including management of any intelligence received via EDI
Managing demand planning exceptions related to out of control demand, forecast bias, unusual month to date demand, etc.
Leveraging forecast performance metrics tools to measure accuracy, assess the quality and frequency of overrides, assess forecast bias, and identify and address the largest sources of forecast error
Participating in the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process with a particular focus on the alignment between the demand plan and the business plan (OP/QOR)
Managing the demand planning aspects of the product life cycle (new products, end of life, and phase-in / phase-out)
Maximizing the effectiveness of the statistical forecast by adjusting/cleansing historical demand and determining appropriate levels of aggregation for calculating the statistical forecast
Maintaining data integrity in the demand planning system by performing needed realignments and removing obsolete data
Recommend optimal settings for forecast consumption parameters that govern the way in which the forecast is netted by sales orders
Planning intercompany requirements from non-deployed countries (“Rest Of World” or “ROW” demand) during interim-state
Providing oversight for the global demand plan to ensure integrity of the global plan. This applies to items sourced in the demand planner’s home country/region, but sold in multiple countries/regions and demand planned by multiple demand planners around the world
Supports the Supply and Production Planning organization through key inputs for development of inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
Supports Business Group LSS initiatives through data analytics and continuous process improvement
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation & Logistics, Customer Service, and/or Marketing
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation & Logistics, Customer Service and/or Marketing
Experience in Demand Planning
Knowledge of Supply Planning (SP), Production Planning (PP), and/or Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes
Analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.)
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and self-motivational skills
Experience working on cross-functional and international teams
APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification
Experience representing the supply chain organization on business teams
Experience utilizing LSS methodologies
