    Job Description


Merchandising Planning and Analysis

  • To assist in the development and execution of the Merchandising Strategy for the brand or concept in line with positioning; taking into consideration customer profile, categories assortment, fashion trends, items and price points.
  • To assist in the management and maintenance of the merchandise plan: open to buy, inventory levels, markdown and discount price and monthly sales and margin targets to achieve the set financial goals.
  • To control open-to-buy, stock levels and deliveries in order to stay within the stock plan and to increase turnover.
  • To develop Assortment plan for each brand by season and by stores to achieve profit maximization.
  • Vendor Management: To negotiate for favorable terms and drive business with vendors and make necessary adjustments according to performance to meet business targets and objectives.
  • To be the company’s representative in the market, work closely and maintain strong relations with business partners to ensure business objectives are met and Tangs values are upheld.
  • To explore new merchandising trends, products and vendors constantly to create newness and keep up with market.
  • To shop and analyze competitive brands to evaluate their assortments, prices, and merchandise presentation in order to be competitive in these areas.
  • Current update of global retail trends through market survey and retail publications.

Performance Analysis and Inventory Management

  • To analyze the business performance and take appropriate actions in order to achieve sales and profit goals.
  • To identify and maximize fast-selling items; to identify slow-selling merchandise and take action to dispose of it by taking timely markdown according to the Product Life Cycle, Aged Stock and OMD management.
  • To regularly review the on-order file and take appropriate action; to take corrective action on no-orders and deliveries against purchase commitment.
  • To participate in all shortage control audits as necessary and to act on the results as reported.
  • To manage brands/vendors performance and maximize potentials.

Merchandise Presentation Branding and Marketing

  • To define a point of view towards merchandise presentation in the department and convey this presentation direction to visual & retail executive in branch stores; to see that this presentation point of view is projected on all selling floors on a daily basis.
  • To plan marketing strategies and brief Marcom Department on the branding, advertising and promotional strategies and ensure right execution. Establish brands or products for press and media exposures.
  • To negotiate for co-op marketing contribution from vendors and plan marketing programs accordingly to drive the business taking into consideration of Loyalty Management and non-Loyalty Management targets.
  • To inform all stores of advertised promotions well in advance of the ad; to schedule deliveries so that stock is available in the stores or all advertised merchandise.
  • To note and analyze the results of all marketing initiatives for future planning.

Operations Execution, Staff Development and Training

  • To visit the shop floor frequently to check on merchandise displays, stock levels and old season merchandise; to consult with retail executive and sales people on problems and suggestions. Spend time to know customers.
  • To conduct trend, product knowledge and feedback sessions with operations team regularly.
  • To maintain a close working relationship with warehouse, invoice office, and marking down personnel in order to solve all problems relating to merchandise received and transferred. Ensure distribution of inventory is carried out efficiently to all stores.
  • To maintain close communications with retail executive and sales staff to convey merchandise information and merchandising strategies of the department.
  • Any other duties which may be assigned by your immediate supervisor/manager from time to time.
