As an Executive Director in the EM Edge Economics team, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing how global trends impact frontier economies, but also intrinsic dynamics of frontiers. This position offers exposure to Vietnam and broader EM Asia, providing insights into global macro developments. You will collaborate with a team of twelve economists across three regions, delivering award-winning, market-leading insights through innovative research products. As an Executive Director within the EM Edge Economics team, you will analyze macroeconomic trends and produce insightful research on frontier economies in Asia. Your work will contribute to J.P. Morgan's market-leading insights, helping shape the firm's understanding of global economic developments. Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze macro/fundamental drivers of frontier Asia economies.
- Produce regular research and deep-dive reports.
- Create and maintain models and analytical tools for these economies.
- Collaborate with Emerging Markets teams, particularly EM Asia and EMEA EM teams.
- Liaise with local markets and credit strategists to formulate forecasts and views.
- Interact with external institutional clients on customized requests.
- Assist internal sales and trading personnel.
- Organize webinars with government officials.
- Maintain relationships with various officials.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Masters/PhD in Economics/Finance.
- Strong quantitative skills with proven aptitude to build macro-models.
- Ability to work with spreadsheets and statistical programming languages/packages (EViews, R, Python).
- Strong economic background and knowledge of political and economic developments in Asia.
- Minimum 5 years of experience covering frontier economies.
- More than 10 years of overall experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Experience within a Research role on sell-side or buy-side.
- Significant experience in covering Vietnam, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Mongolia.
- Proven ability to interact with external institutional clients and assist internal teams.
- Proven knowledge and past interaction with officials in frontier countries as well as IFIs and think tanks.
