Role Overview
Our client, a purpose-driven organization, is seeking a visionary and influential Group Head of Sustainability & ESG to lead the group-wide sustainability and ESG agenda. This executive role is accountable for embedding sustainability into business strategy, investments, and operations, ensuring the organization remains a global leader in environmental and social impact.
You will work closely with the investment, business, and communications teams, regulators, and global partners to drive measurable outcomes across ESG governance, corporate sustainability, and purpose-driven investments.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute a group-wide sustainability and ESG strategy, aligning with long-term business and impact goals.
- Serve as the senior advisor to the Board and Chairman on sustainability, ESG risks, and emerging opportunities.
Governance & Compliance
- Oversee sustainability governance, reporting, and compliance with leading frameworks (GRI, ISSB, SBTi, TCFD).
- Ensure group-wide alignment with regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.
Investment Integration
- Partner with investment teams to integrate ESG into due diligence, portfolio reviews, and capital allocation.
- Provide strategic oversight on sustainability-related investments, including renewable energy, carbon, and purpose-led ventures.
Operational Transformation
- Embed sustainability into business operations, supply chain, and new ventures.
- Drive internal transformation to build a sustainability-first culture across all business units.
External Engagement
- Represent the organization in sustainability forums, regulatory dialogues, and global partnerships.
- Build relationships with governments, NGOs, industry leaders, and investors to advance shared sustainability goals.
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and mentor a high-performing sustainability team.
- Build internal capabilities through training, engagement, and thought leadership.
Requirements:
- 20 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or related leadership roles, including board or C-suite engagement.
- Proven track record in corporate sustainability governance and strategy, with exposure to sustainability-related investments.
- Deep knowledge of global sustainability frameworks and climate governance standards.
- Strong regional experience in Asia; sector knowledge in logistics, energy, maritime, or purpose-led investing is a plus.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at board and regulator levels.
- Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Business, Finance or related field. Equivalent senior-level executive education in sustainability/ESG/finance will also be considered.
