Job Summary:
The Kitchen Assistant supports the kitchen team in food preparation, basic cooking, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. This role is essential in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and delivering high-quality food service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation (e.g. washing, peeling, chopping ingredients)
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, or side items
- Set up and restock workstations and food prep areas
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas according to health and safety standards
- Receive, check, and store deliveries of food supplies
- Dispose of waste and manage recycling according to guidelines
- Help with plating and garnishing dishes during service
- Follow all kitchen safety and hygiene regulations
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Head Chef or Supervisor
Requirements:
- No formal qualifications required, but basic food handling knowledge is an advantage
- Previous experience in a kitchen or F&B environment is preferred
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good team player with a positive attitude
- Physically fit to stand for long hours and perform manual tasks
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
