The Schaeffler Hub for Advanced Research at Nanyang Technological University (SHARE at NTU) is a joint innovation lab based within the university campus. SHARE now moves into phase III, with its focus on joint research and development of human–robot interaction, dual arm robot manipulation, advanced AMR and healthcare robotic aids, to become one of the innovation hubs within Schaeffler. The team is now ready to be working towards robotics for industry and healthcare applications.
We are looking for a Project officer to support the design, development, and user validation of a human-robot interface system for a robotic assistive device. The role will focus on prototyping and evaluating intuitive interface solutions that enable safe and seamless transfer of patients between bed and wheelchair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop user-friendly interface prototypes for a transfer-assist robot.
- Conduct user research to understand interface requirements from both patients and caregivers.
- Integrate sensors (e.g., force, position, safety) to inform robot behavior and user feedback.
- Conduct iterative testing and refinement of the interface based on usability studies.
- Collaborate with clinical partner to conduct the patient trial on the transfer robot.
- Document testing outcomes and contribute to publications or reports as required.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/ mechatronics engineering or related field
- Relevant working experience will be preferred.
- Familiarity with kinematic, dynamics, rapid prototyping.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Solidworks.
- Able to work independently, Strong teamwork, communication skills.
