Job Title: Refill Systems Engineer (Technical & Field Ops)
Location: Singapore
Help Us Power the Refill Revolution
Ecoworks is an award-winning sustainability startup reimagining how everyday products are delivered — without the waste. We design and operate smart refill stations to eliminate single-use plastic packaging at scale.
We're looking for a hands-on Refill Systems Engineer who can own our day-to-day field operations while supporting hardware prototyping and maintenance. This is a rare hybrid role that mixes logistics, engineering, and sustainability — perfect for someone who wants to build real things, not just sit behind a desk.
Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Prototyping & Fabrication (Build and Hack)
- Design small mechanical improvements using CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360), and fabricate them using 3D printers or hand tools.
- Tweak station components or mounts for improved usability, durability, or performance. Help test new station modules or enclosures before islandwide rollout.
Embedded Systems & Rapid Testing (For the Tinkerers)
- Assist in sensor integration (e.g., load cells, flow sensors) or microcontroller tinkering (e.g., ESP32, Arduino).
- Support early-stage development of hardware logic, triggers, or sensor feedback loops. Help log field data and test firmware/hardware behavior in real-world conditions.
Field Operations & Refill Logistics
- Drive our refill van and execute detergent refills across a network of smart stations islandwide.
- Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels across sites to prevent downtime.
- Maintain basic cleanliness, calibration, and functional checks of each station. Supervise part-time crew or field contractors as needed.
️ Maintenance & Technical Troubleshooting (Maker-Minded)
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and field servicing for pumps, flow meters, solenoid valves, and wiring.
- Diagnose hardware faults and carry out on-the-spot fixes — with tools, tape, or code, if needed. Liaise with hardware vendors for component replacements or upgrades.
Workshop & Inventory Management
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, organize spare parts, and track consumables.
- Coordinate detergent restocking and maintain tidy inbound/outbound inventory logs. Support ordering cycles and help forecast hardware or refill supply needs.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Provide weekly reports on field ops, inventory status, and station uptime. Suggest workflow and hardware improvements — whether that’s better logistics routing or a smarter nozzle mount.
Field Operations & Refill Logistics
- Oversee daily refill operations across multiple station sites islandwide.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery and replenishment of detergent products. Supervise part-time refill crew or contractors as the business scales.
StationMaintenance & Troubleshooting
- Conduct preventive checks and resolve common issues with piping, pumps, flow sensors, valves, and electrical components. Coordinate with hardware vendors and assist in installation and relocation of stations.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of detergents and consumables.
- Maintain tidy, organized records of inbound/outbound goods. Support forecasting and restocking to reduce downtime.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify bottlenecks and propose improvements in the refill/maintenance workflow. Provide weekly reports on station performance and inventory status.
Ideal Candidate
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering , Electrical Engineering , Mechatronics , Industrial Design , or similar.
- Familiar with basic plumbing, mechanical fittings, electrical wiring, or sensor calibration.
- Experience in CAD (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks) and 3D printing is a strong plus.
- Enjoys hands-on work and solving real-world problems.
- Physically fit and willing to travel across Singapore frequently.
- Holds a valid Class 3/3A driving license .
- Bonus: Prior experience with vending machines, dispensing systems, or sustainability tech.
Why Join Ecoworks?
- Build Singapore’s circular economy from the ground up.
- Grow with a passionate, fast-moving team solving real-world sustainability challenges.
- Gain practical exposure to engineering, field ops, and hardware development.
- Shape the future of zero-waste retail — and have fun doing it.
