The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 6-month contract at the
Natural Science and Science Education, NIE.
Project Title: Feasibility Study on Laser Induced Plasma-Guided Electrical Discharges [MHA HTX 6/24 LCK]
Project Introduction:
The aim of the project is to study and evaluate several types of conditions and design parameters of different plasma and laser devices that would allow: (1) generation of laser-induced plasma channel under atmospheric pressure, (2) propagation and maintaining of electrical stream/pulses on the plasma channel, (3) evaluate effects of laser-induced plasma with material interaction. Experimental and simulation studies will be caried out using various setups and software tools to determine the feasibility of generating these laser-induced plasma channel for applications requiring electrical discharge, electrical transport, and spectroscopy.
Requirements:
- BSc in Physics or BEng in Engineering.
- Have completed a final year project or relevant practical experience (such as internship or industry-based assignment)
Responsibilities:
- Assist in all aspects of experiments including carrying out experiments, data analysis, and experimental setup.
- Assist in all aspects of computational modelling/simulation work.
- Assist in designing and development of scientific components and apparatus.
- Help with aspects of project management and administration - prepare writeups, progress reports, risk/safety assessments, reports, and compilation of literature survey.
- Documentation and scientific reporting.
- Assist PI and research staff in other tasks.
