The Research Associate will have knowledge of ecosystem services assessment, ecological engineering, social sciences, carbon policy, environmental science, and/or similar coastal environmental issues at the policy-academic interface. They will work closely with the research team for the ‘Ecosystem services provided by current and future coastal defences, including recreation and education’.
Key Responsibilities:
The Research Associate will collaborate closely with the project team primarily assessing ecosystem services and supporting Principal Investigators (PIs) in meeting the objectives outlined in the project work plan. The researcher will be responsible for assisting with identification and analysis if ecosystem services, social science data collection, collation and analysis of current ecosystem services and artificial coastline data and assisting with data management. The successful applicant will assist in all aspects of the work package. This will additionally include conducting literature reviews of relevant articles and information, managing and analyzing ecological and socioeconomic datasets related to coastal ecosystem services in Singapore, and conducting field work to collect new data.
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Social Sciences or a closely related field.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of spatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and proactive
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Positive working attitude, both in a team and independently
- As the position requires stakeholder engagement in English, candidate must be fluent in English
- Familiar with data analysis software (e.g., R, Matlab, SPSS, Primer or Python)
- Experience with data analysis techniques (e.g., ANOVA, PCA, Regression, MDNS)
- Experience with ecosystem service identification and analysis
- Excellent data management and analysis skills
