RESPONSIBILITIES
- Play a central role in supporting the development and coordination of interdisciplinary research initiatives, with a primary focus on challenges related to Longevity Societies and Economies.
- Work closely with identified Principal Investigators to conceptualize and draft proposals - for LSEI it will be addressing care systems, workforce participation of older adults, and urban infrastructure (including redesigning our health emergency response systems and manpower in the face of an aging population).
- To support the development of large grant proposals (including MOE Tier 3) that faculty have discussed and are keen to proceed on.
- Conducting comprehensive literature reviews, particularly of high-quality publications listed in SMU's A* journal and conference list; synthesizing key findings to inform proposal framing; assisting in drafting and revising proposal text; and preparing presentation materials with well-designed visual elements.
- Justify the budget and statements of work to support funding applications.
- Drive collaboration with potential external stakeholders, including public agencies and industry partners, to enhance research relevance and impact.
- Support the Institute Director to work with the Principal Investigators (and their associated RAs/REs/RFs in their grant-funded research projects) in actively curating knowledge dissemination through seminars, lectures, and workshops to foster dialogue and visibility both across the schools of SMU and also with the external stakeholders.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- PhD in related discipline such as urban studies, longevity and population studies, human-centred AI, AI, data and digital governance, computer science, mathematics and statistics, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to model and optimize complex piecewise-linear mixed parameter systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of decision-making strategies for dynamic environments.
- Experience in developing algorithms that incorporate heuristics and historical data to address operational constraints and behavioural preferences in complex optimisation systems.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews, with a focus on identifying and synthesizing high-quality publications, including those from SMU's A* journal and conference list.
- Proficiency in drafting and refining research proposals, including the preparation of cost estimates, budget justifications, and statements of work.
- Skilled in preparing presentation materials, including the design of visual elements such as charts and diagrams, and producing professional slide decks.
- Capable of supporting Principal Investigators in the development of large-scale research proposals, including MOE Tier 3 submissions.
- Effective communication skills for reporting, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary research teams.
