JOB SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Director of Sales, the Assistant Director of Sales - Business Travel is responsible for leading and driving room revenue growth within the Business Travel segment. This role requires a results-driven leader with sharp business acumen and a strategic mindset, who excels in cultivating and sustaining high-value client relationships.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Essential: 

  1. Diploma in Hospitality, Business or related field
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  3. Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in a 5-star hotel environment

 

Desirable: 

  1. Persuasive and influential sales approach
  2. Experience in a similar leadership role within a 5-star hotel
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or Business Administration
  4. Dynamic and thrives under pressure
  5. Collaborative team player
  6. Results-driven with a strong business acumen
  7. Independent and highly self-motivated
  8. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities

SKILLS 

Strategic Management & Sales Competencies:

  1. Proven ability to consistently close high-value sales and secure key business travel accounts.
  2. Skilled in leading, mentoring and evaluating team member to optimise team performance and productivity.
  3. Strong understanding of Revenue Management principles, analyse reports and execute effective selling strategies aligned with business travel goals. 
  4. Ability to lead a cohesive team to perform job functions independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Analytical thinker with a track record of implementing practical, results-driven solutions.
  6. Exceptional organizational and delegation skills, with a focus on managing priorities to meet business objectives.
  7. Committed to fostering positive guest and team member relationships to enhance service excellence and team morale.
  8. Ability to maintain composure and clear judgement in demanding and complex situations.
  9. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and execution in all aspects of work.
  10. Collaborative team player, ability to work cross-functionally with interdepartmental teams to achieve shared business goals.

Technical Skills:

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  2. Skilled in Opera Property Management System

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Essential Job Functions: 

1) Direct Sales (60%)

  1. Effectively manage and expand a targeted portfolio of high-value corporate accounts.
  2. Acquire a minimum of 20 new accounts annually, each generating confirmed production. 
  3. Conduct 20 qualified sales calls weekly and execute strategic customer site inspections.
  4. Ensure timely, accurate, and well-documented communication of customer and sales commitments to all operational departments.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Opera Sales & Catering system in a timely manner.
  6. Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with Business travel buyers and key decision-makers across corporate accounts. 
  7. Develops and manages relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  8. Execute sales strategies in alignment with Revenue Management objective to maintain a top-tier yield position. 
  9. Consistently exceed revenue goals set by Director of Sales. 
  10. Leverages off-property sales channels (e.g. GSO, GSA, NSO) to align business travel sales strategies, ensuring the property’s goals and client needs are consistently met.  

2) Team Supervision and Development (30%)

  1. Lead, coach and motivate the Business Travel sales team to achieve revenue and customer satisfaction goals.
  2. Conduct regular performance reviews and support team members in achieving their KRAs. 
  3. Serve as a mentor and resource to enhance individual and team effectiveness. 
  4. Utilizes Marriott Global Source (MGS) tools to drive ongoing learning and professional growth.

3) Others (10%)

  1. Energizes all Ritz-Carlton Gold Standards and ensure consistent implementation within the team.
  2. Attend and contribute to all relevant sales meeting and strategic planning sessions.
  3. Participate in special projects and initiatives as directed by the Director of Sales. 
  4. Completes all mandatory Marriott compliance training.
