RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for Office of Finance (OFIN).
- Perform cashflow, liquidity and debt forecasting and scenario planning.
- Assist in securing financing and ensure compliance with relevant covenants.
- Support strategic and financial updates to maintain credit rating.
- Monitor interest rate market movements.
- Serve as key liaison with bank partners to implement bank solutions and oversee bank operational and matters, including management of corporate card programme.
- Support the accounting and management of the University's reserves.
- Manage donations, including accounting, forecasting and reporting.
- Engage in business partnership with other University departments, support budget planning, provide financial support and business insights.
- Ensure compliance with Singapore FRS, local statutory requirements and other government directives.
- Support both management reporting and financial reporting and audits.
- Develop and implement finance/accounting policies, procedures and controls.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement on policies and processes.
- Design financial analysis to extract key insights from financial data.
- Prepare key reports, papers and presentations to senior management, the Board, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate interactions both within Finance and with other internal and external stakeholders represent SMU in independently liaising with external stakeholders (e.g. government agencies, auditors, lawyers, bankers) and internal stakeholders (e.g. senior management).
- Support systems implementation and related IT projects.
- Contribute to finance-related and other cross-departmental projects.
- Other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities.
- A Degree or professional qualification in Accounting or Business with at least 3 years of relevant treasury, finance or accounting experience.
- Candidates with Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Public Accountant (CPA) / Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) would be advantageous.
- Experience in the government, education or charity sector would be advantageous.
- Experience in treasury and FP&A would be advantageous.
- Strong technical knowledge in accounting, well versed in FRS and its application.
- Financially attuned with experience in cash, investment and liquidity management.
- Experience in process flow and compliance matters.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in SAP will be advantageous.
- Experience with data analytics and dashboarding tools will be advantageous.
- Highly motivated individual, resourceful and able to multi-task and work independently.
- Good analytical and organisation skills, able to work flexibly and demonstrate critical thinking to problem solve.
- Proactive and mature team player with good interpersonal skills who can communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
