Business Development Director (FMCG - Beverage)

The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, leadership abilities, and hands-on sales expertise to help drive a company’s growth and profitability.


Job Description:

1. Strategic Planning & Market Analysis

  • Develop long-term growth strategies and objectives for the business.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to identify new opportunities.

2. Lead Generation & Sales

  • Identify, prospect, and convert new business opportunities across various sectors.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of potential clients and projects.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to generate leads, create proposals, and close deals.
  • Develop pricing strategies and negotiate contracts.

3. Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the company and build brand awareness.
  • Manage and enhance existing client relationships to increase customer retention and maximize revenue.

4. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a team of business development managers or specialists.
  • Work closely with the marketing, sales, product, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of business initiatives.
  • Set performance metrics, track team progress, and adjust strategies as needed.

5. Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Manage the business development budget and allocate resources effectively.
  • Monitor business development expenses and ensure activities stay within budget while maximizing ROI.
  • Forecast and track revenue targets, adjusting strategies to meet financial goals.

6. Innovation & Business Strategy

  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and evolving business practices.
  • Refine the company’s overall business strategy.
  • Advocate for innovative solutions and creative business models to help the company stay competitive in the market.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in sales and marketing, preferably in FMCG.
  • Capacity to manage various projects and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Well-organised with excellent timeline management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to interpret market data and translate it into actionable strategies.
  • Extensive experience in Direct sales, distibutor, or business development.
