Position Summary
We are looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to spearhead our market entry and expansion efforts in Japan. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up the company’s operations, establishing local partnerships, and developing relationships with high net worth Chinese clients and other potential stakeholders in Japan. The role requires a strong insurance background, familiarity with high net worth clients from China, and a proactive approach to market development.

- Working Hours: 5 days (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm) (Flexible)
- Salary Package : Basic + Commission + Bonus | Annually ~$100,000 + Bonus
- Duration: Permanent
Role Description
- Lead the setup of the company’s operations in Japan, including legal registration, licensing, and local compliance.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to establish the company’s presence in Japan.
- Identify, approach, and build relationships with high net worth clients from China and other potential prospects in Japan.
- Promote and sell our suite of products, including insurance, asset management, family offices, migration, study abroad, and healthcare services.
- Collaborate with internal teams to tailor solutions for the Japanese market and ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local financial institutions, expatriate communities, and relevant industry stakeholders.
- Monitor market trends, competitors, regulatory environment, and customer needs in Japan.
- Attend industry events, networking functions, and client meetings to expand the company’s reach.
- Work closely with headquarters to align strategies and ensure brand consistency.
Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin (both written and spoken) is essential, to liaise effectively with Mandarin-speaking counterparts
- Proficiency in Japanese is highly advantageous
- Must obtain certification in insurance or a General Insurance Education Certificate
- Must have good understanding of insurance products
- Must have experience handling high net worth clients from China.
- Experience in setting up or establishing operations in a new market preferred.
- Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset, capable of working independently in a multicultural environment
- Strong business development and relationship management skills
- Expertise in wealth management, financial planning, and asset allocation
