Business Development Manager


Responsibilities :


Small format events:

  • In-depth industry research to outline a commercially successful small conference, roundtables, focus group discussions and networking events. These smaller events create multiple touchpoints for our attendees leading into the flagship GovWare event.
  • Creating, liaising with and managing advisory committees together with marketing and Project Director, to assist in event programs ( for small scale events and main GovWare event)
  • Speaker identification and acquisition of both technical and strategic (including c-suite) industry influencers and business leaders.
  • Conducting in-depth telephone, face to face and desktop research with potential attendees, speakers and sponsors in the target market to develop commercially viable agendas.
  • Delegate identification and acquisition to fill seats for the events.
  • Ongoing client and speaker management to ensure successful onsite delivery.
  • Work with other departments such as Operations, Marketing and the Projects team to ensure the smooth running of the event as well as planning and post-event responsibilities.
  • Work with the Project Director and sales team to deliver the event targets including overall numbers of sponsors, sponsorship inventory, yield, and sponsorship revenues.

Digital content development

  • Continual assessment of regional and global market dynamics to identify opportunities for the development of conference and digital content offerings.
  • Contributing to the continued development of the brand’s digital portfolio through the production and contribution of content across multiple digital formats including filmed interviews with key stakeholders and a range of written pieces as part of our expanding digital content offerings.

Market Research and Community Building

  • Development and management of new and existing relationships with relevant market stakeholders from pureplay cybersecurity, AI, cloud, ML; this includes niche or specialised vertical product providers, end-to-end solution vendors, consultancies, and system integrators.
  • Researching and providing strategic and technical market information to marketing and sales functions in terms of sector and geographic markets including value propositions, competitive events analysis and market mapping information.

Business Development

  • Identify and develop new sales leads to expand market share and penetration of new markets and related industries, to strengthen the sales pipeline and grow exhibitors/sponsors bases;
  • Visit and canvas at competitor and industry events and develop a systematic understanding of ecosystem and monitoring of competitors
  • Participate in the planning and development of marketing campaigns and communications materials for exhibition and sponsorship sales;

Reporting

  • Maintain an accurate show inventory, sales ledger and CRM sales logs
  • Provide a monthly report and forecast on show revenues,
  • Manage the prospect database to ensure it is constantly updated and is fit for a purpose falling in line with the company CRM policy.

Essential Skills or Experience

  • We are seeking a commercially-minded and intuitive Conference Producer with At least 5 years’ experience in selling event sponsorship for physical and digital events, or B2B and media business development.
  • Strong research acumen coupled with agility in learning and applying lateral thinking
  • Ability to write commercially attractive and industry accurate copy for conference agendas, team briefings and marketing sales collateral for our event communities to promote sessions and attract an audience of paying delegates
  • Excellent networking and information gathering abilities
  • Comfortable conducting regular phone calls and face-to-face meetings with prominent key industry figures at all levels
  • The ability to thrive under pressure, proficient at multi-tasking, working on more than one project at a time
  • Proficiency in Salesforce will be an advantage
  • Able to link quality content generation with the creation of innovative commercial and exposure generating opportunities
  • Familiarity with cyber or cybersecurity sector will be a strong advantage
  • Passionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable about developing smart, profitable, and industry-leading conferences
  • Resilient, with a strong desire to succeed
