Job Purpose:
The Cargo Officer Trainee will undergo structured training and mentorship to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for overseeing and coordinating cargo operations at port terminals or onboard vessels. The trainee will assist senior officers in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and operational efficiency during cargo handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of cargo loading and discharging operations.
- Observe and support senior officers in ensuring all cargo handling complies with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Prepare and check cargo documentation, including manifests, stowage plans, and bills of lading.
- Monitor cargo conditions and report any discrepancies or damage.
- Attend vessel and port operations briefings to gain exposure to operational procedures.
- Learn to use cargo monitoring systems, terminal operating systems, and documentation tools.
- Participate in safety drills, inspections, and hazard identification exercises.
- Liaise with stakeholders including vessel crew, port authorities, logistics providers, and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with incident reporting and audits.

- Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Nautical Science, or a related discipline. Fresh graduates or individuals seeking entry into the maritime/logistics industry are welcome.
