OVERVIEW
The Deputy Head (IT Compliance) will take the lead in establishing IT compliance frameworks and controls to ensure policy adherence and uphold the compliance integrity of DSTA’s Corporate IT (CIT) systems. This role aims to drive compliance-by-design across systems and processes. As the Compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Deputy Head will advise on IT policy challenges, oversee compliance programmes, coordinate audit responses, and develop IT compliance competencies within project teams while supporting broader governance and audit initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and implement compliance-by-design initiatives by establishing system design controls, compliance specifications, SOPs, and reference guides for project management teams (PMTs).
- Assess governance readiness of system administration processes for new systems and technology refreshes before deployment.
- Develop and manage IT compliance programmes for DSTA’s CIT systems.
- Coordinate responses to audits and regulatory reviews, providing clear representations on governance and compliance matters.
- Coach and guide PMTs to build and sustain IT compliance competencies across the organisation.
- Maintain Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools and processes, ensuring they remain updated and effective.
- Support the Head (Governance and Compliance) in governance reviews, audits, and policy development.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to multi-task, work independently, and collaborate effectively within teams.
- Knowledge of DSTA IT Policy, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and IM8 will be advantageous.
- A strong understanding of DSTA IT Policy, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and IM8 will be highly advantageous, especially in applying them to IT compliance and governance contexts.
