Operation & Chartering Manager

INPEX ENERGY TRADING SINGAPORE PTE LTD(hereinafter “IETS”) is a crude oil and gas trading company in Singapore that focuses on the sale of crude oil and natural gas produced by the INPEX Group, and we are looking for an Operation & Chartering Manager to handle operation & chartering for our European market.

Position Objective

• Build and enhance the operation function and capability of IETS.

• Contribute the smooth Crude oil, Condensate and LPG production by appropriate operation and chartering, mainly in European Market and Far East.

• Contribute team development of operation & chartering team in line with expanding of IETS’ trading activities

• Build and maintain the good relationships with buyers, sellers, shipping brokers, ship owners, terminal operators, joint ventures partners, Trading team, Middle office team, LNG team, Finance and Administration Team in IETS and relating team in HQ, effectively communicating both in English and in Japanese.
  

REQUIREMENT

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and/or foreign launguage
• At least 8 years working experience of operation and shipping of Crude oil & Condensate including minimum 4 years experience in crude oil transportation of Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan.
• Professional experience in FOB, CFR, DAP operations of Middle East & Mediterranean crude oil project is also a must
• High level proficiency in Japanese (minimum JLPT N1 or received tertiary education in Japan) is a must to be able to understand written document (legal, contractual) and write extensive report in Japanese; the candidate must be able to conduct technical presentation in Japanese to non-English speaking stakeholders and/or attend confidential meetings with our senior management in Japan without help of interpreter.
• Superb command of English to conduct business without need of translator/interpreter to liaise English speaking buyers, sellers, shipping brokers, ship owners, terminal operators, joint ventures partners
• This position caters to Far East and Europe market so Korean and/or French speaker will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of LPG/Condensate lifting program of Ichthys Project is an added advantage
• Must be able to handle tasks in different time zones (i.e. European time) if necessary

Successful candidate must be able to execute duties as follow;

• Develop strategies and plans for sourcing tanker charters and managing operations, effectively communicating in English and Japanese without need of an interpreter

• Maintain long-term relationships with tanker owners, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent shipment from upstream facilities effectively communicating in English and Japanese without need of an interpreter

• Vessel chartering, vessel operations(CFR / DAP / FOB), vessel vetting, instructions on loading/discharging/ inspections, demurrage management, cargo insurance matters and related troubleshooting.

• Operational communication with INPEX office in Japan & Kazakshtan, oil terminals in Europe and our London branch with time differences

• Support chartering person in London branch and reviewing the related charter party

• Liaise with buyers, sellers, shipping brokers, ship owners, terminal operators, joint ventures partners, Trading team, Middle office team, LNG team, Finance and Administration Team and relating team in HQ to ensure that all the contractual obligations arising from cargo deals and charter parties are met, effectively communicating in English and Japanese without need of an interpreter.

• Liaise with finance team to facilitate smooth invoicing and payment for cargoes, freight and all the operational expenses.

• Liaise with buyers, sellers, shipping brokers, ship owners, terminal operators, joint ventures partners etc to ensure smooth operations, avoid supply disruption and minimise demurrage costs.

• Record/update the database related with the above transactions

• Negotiate with brokers and or ship owners to charter the vessel and drafting the related agreements

• Conduct lifting operations in accordance with relevant Offtake agreements and related agreements (possible including review and cover Offtake agreements and relating agreements)

• Attend the necessary meeting with buyers, sellers, shipping brokers, ship owners, terminal operators, joint ventures partners, Trading team, Middle office team, LNG team, Finance and Administration Team and relating team in HQ etc

• Record/update the database related with the above transactions

• Make reporting of tanker market information (vessel fixtures, etc) to assist chartering and trading

• Support Risk Management Analyst

• Support Trading team and conduct trading business related if necessary

• Other ad hoc assignments if necessary
