Site Engineer (Steel Structure) – Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Execution
- Supervise day-to-day site operations for steel structure works.
- Ensure construction activities (fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, alignment) are carried out according to drawings, method statements, and specifications.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, foremen, and workers to achieve project progress.
Technical & Quality Control
- Read and interpret structural & shop drawings, identify discrepancies, and raise RFIs if needed.
- Inspect steel fabrication, welding quality, bolt tightening, and member alignment.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements, including NDT, torque tests, and dimensional checks.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce site safety procedures, particularly for lifting operations and working at height.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure workers follow safety regulations.
- Report unsafe practices and take corrective action immediately.
Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with Project Manager to meet project deadlines.
- Liaise with consultants, main contractor, and subcontractors for site issues and inspections.
- Prepare daily site progress reports, inspection checklists, and documentation.
Material & Resource Management
- Check steel materials, welding consumables, and bolts delivered to site.
- Monitor storage, handling, and usage to prevent wastage and ensure quality.
- Assist in planning manpower, equipment, and crane/lifting arrangements.
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Fresh Graduate are Welcome
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage site workers and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an advantage.
