Vacancy Intro
Haskoning Singapore Pte. Ltd. provides consultancy services across various engineering disciplines through our business lines: Water & Maritime (W&M), Industry & Buildings (I&B) and Mobility & Infrastructure (M&I). The Advisory Group (AG) Water Singapore is currently seeking a Senior Water Quality Modeller with expertise in water quality modelling related projects in the marine and inland environment, based in Singapore.
Given the expanding portfolio of coastal engineering, land reclamation and reservoir advisory services in Singapore, and the increasing need for water quality modelling expertise on these projects, the AG Water Singapore seeks to appoint a Senior Water Quality Modeller to lead and provide support on marine and inland water quality related projects. This individual will demonstrate expert consultancy and water quality modelling skills for substantial and complex engineering consultancy projects while leading project teams.
What will you do
The Senior Water Quality Modeller will lead water quality modelling related project tasks and oversee project (sub)teams to successfully and timely meet deliverables. They will work closely with an assigned Project Manager/Director to provide technical guidance and address matters related to water quality modelling, and in doing so uphold required technical quality standards.
The Senior Water Quality Modeller will, through (technical) guidance on the projects, provide mentorship to more junior colleagues and contribute to their overall development through knowledge sharing and capacity building. They may internally and/or externally act as the Technical Modelling Lead and be responsible for the quality assurance of water quality modelling related tasks, which encompasses both hydrodynamics and (biogeochemical) water quality. Their experience should cover technical feasibility studies, Environmental Impact Assessments, and coastal and marine modelling studies. Experience in more inland related water quality modelling studies, such as that of reservoirs, is a plus. The role involves interacting with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural project teams, including colleagues across various countries, ensuring quality and planning standards meet client expectations.
The successful candidate will supervise and guide project teams, facilitate knowledge transfer, support new opportunities, and furthermore provide technical and budgetary input to proposals. They should demonstrate a solid understanding of project requirements and be able to translate this to budgetary needs for new opportunities.
Where you will work
The Senior Water Quality Modeller will be based in Singapore, working from our office or partner offices. Flexible arrangements are possible but must meet project and client needs, such as data confidentiality which may require work from secured environments. Project support may extend beyond Singapore to cover broader interests of Haskoning in Asia-Pacific or globally.
What you bring
The Senior Water Quality Modeller is expected to successfully:
- Demonstrate thought leadership and experience in coastal/marine and specifically water quality modelling.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of hydrodynamics and water quality (modelling).
- Show experience with numerical modeling tools such as MIKE, Delft3D, and similar software.
- Demonstrate a proficiency in data processing and analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel, R, Python or the like.
- Offer technical guidance to the multi-disciplinary sub-project teams, project managers and other colleagues.
- Monitor the quality, planning, and budget of the project components under their responsibility.
Additionally, preference will be given to applicants who:
- Demonstrate experience in water quality modelling in inland water bodies such as reservoirs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and experience in modelling waves, sediment and surge.
- Demonstrate experience in coastal engineering and land reclamation related projects.
Requirements:
- 12-15 years of relevant domain knowledge and experience in (marine) water quality projects, ideally within Singapore or similar environments.
- An MSc or comparable academic background in Environmental Sciences or related fields. Experience in coastal engineering and land reclamations would be a significant advantage.
- Proficiency in numerical modeling tools such as MIKE, Delft3D, and similar software.
- Demonstrated expertise in data processing and analysis using tools like Microsoft Excel, R, Python, or equivalent.
- The ability to effectively combine technical expertise with strong leadership abilities to oversee multi-disciplinary projects, both in Singapore and potentially across other Asia-Pacific countries.
- Experience in international projects, particularly within (Southeast) Asia and Singapore, is essential
- Proficiency in English is mandatory.
- Candidates must already reside in Singapore and possess valid working rights.
What we offer you

You will collaborate with a team of highly motivated and supportive colleagues from diverse backgrounds, where the principles of cooperation and mutual respect are fundamental. You will be involved in a variety of project types in Singapore, and potentially beyond, serving as a key contact for modelling and technical expertise. Your support will extend to projects operating in multidisciplinary and multicultural contexts, working alongside both field-leading experts and junior team members seeking mentorship. We provide competitive primary and secondary employment benefits, outstanding opportunities for career progression, and a dynamic, collaborative team environment.
